Since this year 2015 is the Shmitta – Sabbatical year of the Israel land we can suggest a new KKL ecological initiative, the "Forester for a day" program. The "Forester for a Day" offers to visitors a unique opportunity to assist KKL-JNF in helping to maintain our forests, prevent forest fires and guarantee a greener tomorrow for Israel.
The participant in the "Forester for a Day" program work side-by-side with professional foresters to clear underbrush, prune trees, prepare fire breaks and forest paths in the Ben Shemen, Carmel, Birya or Lahav forests. The program runs 2-3 hours in its entirety and work is done under the supervision of foresters and KKL-JNF guides. Upon completion, each participant receives a KKL-JNF hat, pin and a certificate of appreciation.
